In a recent survey, 92 percent of Americans stated that having an attractive smile is an important social asset. Seventy-four percent of those surveyed also said that having an unattractive smile could harm a person’s potential for a successful career. In yet another survey, many of those polled said that an attractive, healthy looking smile was one of the major signs of self-confidence, just as important as eye contact, overall personal appearance, and good posture.

Durable, stain resistant, and virtually indistinguishable from your real teeth, porcelain veneers are thin, sculpted layers of tooth-colored material that are bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth. Porcelain veneers are an excellent way to conceal chips, stains, cracks, or other minor aesthetic problems with your teeth.
There are three steps involved in creating the perfect smile. The first is the consultation, where we discuss your desires and plan how to create the smile you’ve always wanted. We will then take photos and impressions of your teeth so that we can pre-design your new smile by creating a "wax-up." This way, you can see how your teeth will look before we even start the procedure.
During the next step, we shape the teeth, take the final impressions, and fabricate temporary restorations that will mimic your final restorations.
In the final step, we remove the temporary restorations and place your brand new, beautiful porcelain veneers so you can see how they look. If you love them, as most patients do, we will bind them to your teeth, and you'll be ready to show off your brand-new smile.
Porcelain veneers have an edge over other materials traditionally used in tooth restoration because they reflect and absorb light in much the same way as your natural teeth. Rather than creating a uniformly opaque surface, porcelain veneers mimic the gradient effect that is present in natural teeth, appearing more opaque in the center and more translucent toward the edges. With the latest advancements in porcelain veneers, your restorations will not only last longer and prevent further damage to your teeth, they will contribute to a radiant and natural looking smile.
Dr. Poglitsch proudly offers LUMINEERS® porcelain veneers to patients throughout the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. LUMINEERS® are unique in that they are as thin as a contact lens, allowing them to be placed right over your unaltered tooth. Additionally, LUMINEERS® are the only porcelain veneers to be made from patented Cerinate® porcelain, and are only available through the Cerinate® Smile Design Studio, so you are always assured of the highest quality. A variety of factors can cause your teeth to lose their luster. Soft drinks, coffee, tea, cigarette smoke, and even the natural effects of aging can cause teeth to become stained or discolored. Teeth whitening is an effective way to improve the appearance of your smile. With teeth whitening, you can safely, quickly, and affordably restore the brightness of your smile. Many of our teeth whitening patients in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area have told us the appearance of their smiles has been greatly improved.
Over the years, we have found that home whitening systems tend to work best. We offer several types of take-home teeth whitening kits that allow you to whiten your teeth over a series of several days. We have many systems to choose from, and can help you choose a teeth whitening solution that is based on your individual situation. These systems allow you to whiten your teeth as much as you need, and are much more cost effective.
If a tooth is severely decayed, extremely sensitive, or has undergone a root canal, porcelain dental crowns are the ideal cosmetic and restorative solution. A dental crown covers the entire tooth in order to restore its original appearance, protect the tooth from further decay, chipping or cracking, relieving you of any pain or discomfort associated with the tooth.
Dr. Poglitsch uses the latest in restorative technology to create custom crowns for each damaged tooth and ensure that it matches the rest of your teeth in size and shape. Once the dental crowns are in place, your teeth will be equipped to withstand years of “wear and tear” without suffering further damage. For back teeth that are subject to more intense pressure during biting or chewing, Dr. Poglitsch can craft the crown out of durable gold.
Dr. Poglitsch often uses natural looking porcelain when crafting dental crowns, matching them to the color and shade of the rest of your teeth. Because porcelain’s shine and luster closely mimic that of natural teeth, porcelain dental crowns are ideal for front teeth requiring restoration.

There are some instances in which a tooth is too decayed or damaged to be restored with a mere filling but does not require a dental crown. In such instances, Dr. Poglitsch uses inlays or onlays to restore the biting surface of a tooth. While Dr. Poglitsch almost always uses a tooth-colored or porcelain composite for his inlays and onlays, gold may be used to restore a tooth under certain circumstances.
A dental bridge is a restoration that fills in the space left by a missing tooth or teeth. Dental bridges consist of a solid tooth (pontic), which replaces the missing tooth and is usually connected to the teeth on either side. This is usually accomplished by placing dental crowns over the two teeth surrounding the gap. Without the placement of a dental bridge, gaps between teeth can cause your remaining teeth to shift. This can cause bite problems, jaw problems, and can contribute to the development of periodontal disease.

If you have a decayed tooth that needs to be restored or would like to replace one of your sliver fillings, consider a composite tooth-colored filling. Composite fillings are ideal for treating decay at its earliest detection and can be used for small to medium size tooth repair. The procedure involves removing the decay or defective filling and bonding layers of a tooth-colored composite material into the void. The bonded tooth-colored filling looks natural and additionally strengthens the tooth.
